Simple classic style splash. It works. KISS concept is supreme.

This is a clove bomb! Cloves tempered with softer nutmeg and that mildly sweet benzoin make for a gentlemanly affect. Probably best for cooler weather as it is warm and mildly spicy. Great stuff!

Awesome but I wish it had no alcohol. Smells and feels great. Really love the bottle too as well as the cap - it has a great air tight seal. The bottle too only lets a couple drops out a time and I love that too. Great stuff on my favorites list. Can’t wait to try another scent - love the products.

Still, I give it a 5. Quickly has become my Stirling go-to, leaving me feeling guilty for ignoring some of my other faves. A delightful, sweet fragrance. I seem to get more of the clove than anything else, but maybe just don't know what the other components are supposed to smell like. Added the glacial ... and WOW! Lights it up for 15 seconds or so, then just cools. Unlike some, doesn't leave any "sticky".

Great fragrance for mature men. Leave the perfumes to the young bucks.

Again, my only disappointment ... fades fast.

Love Rod and Mandy's magical scents. And this one promises to be one of my most favorites among my many Stirling products. Reading other reviews, the great disparity in descriptions jives with my own confusion about this. What's it smell "like"? No real idea. But I know that I like it well. And more than most, the glacial addition REALLY lights up the freshly-shaven mug! Terrific! Very smooth, doesn't dry out my skin. I'd have given it a 5th star, but it does not seem to have as much strength or staying power as some other Stirling masterpieces. I know ... my olfactory experience doesn't seem to jive with many others. Go figure.

I grabbed a sample of Ben Franklin to finish trying out all of the Stirling afteshaves and I love it. Easily a new favorite. This is one of those fragrances where you go into it unsure and either fall in love with it or not. The scent takes me back to my childhood going to libraries with my grandparents and the smell of my grandfather's old school aftershave and pipe smoke as we would sit and read on the porch. It definitely has that comforting classic clean bayrum like profile and dare I say a parchment like nuance, as I said almost like an old book. Wonderful.

I just picked up a bottle of this aftershave at a pif table and at first the scent from opening the bottle was a little strong after shaving this morning i splashed a little bit on. In the future i will use a little less than I did today. the burn was pretty intense, not sure if it was from the alcohol base of the menthol of just a combination but it burned pretty bad for about 2 minuets and I almost thought about washing it off. that is the only reason I gave it 4 stars.

Throughout the day though it has left a silky smooth finish on my skin and i feel zero dryness. The dry scent profile resembles a classic bay rum. nice and spicy with a warm almost sweet under tone. I love it. Would love to see this in an alcohol free base.

I first ordered as a sample and wasn't too impressed, then later decided to order a bottle anyway. As I'm already a bay rum fan, the spiciness of Ben Franklin makes it somewhat similar to bay rums, in a slightly more medicinal way. After a few uses, it has really grown on me. Give it a chance!

Not for everyone. Odd at first. It definitely grows on you. I'm keeping a bottle for sure.

It smells like my grandfathers study. Three walls lined with books with a globe and a table sitting under a bear fur.

Wood, cinnamon, books. Spicy. Clove scent after a few minutes.

Not a young man's scent.

No one should question the performance of any of Stirling's products. It's really just a matter of finding your fav scents. I'm liking this one. It's not my all-time favorite, but very good. The wife and daughter test was a success. Hint of cloves for my wife and root beer for my daughter. They both send they want to eat me:) Maybe you don't like the idea of smelling like either but to me it brings to mind an antique store, not a bad smell. I imagine the old benches in Independence Hall having a hint of this scent. The only way to decide for yourself is just buy a sample at least.

I love it, smells like licorice and egg nog. It is weird and hard to describe, definitely different. My wife does not like it. If you want to please the ladies try Mountain Man.

A great, one of a kind fragrance that could easily be a classic for some.

The performance is solid, on par with other Stirling aftershaves.

The scent description is accurate, benzoin (resinous, aromatic) and clove/frankincense (warm spices) are the two dominant scents that I can pick out.

For me, the combination of clove and frankincense remind me of the holidays. So I've set aside this one and Coniferous to use during those festive months!

This one is not easy to explain. Really I like this scent a lot. My wife knows every little thing about perfumes and colognes, I mean everything. She even says it is unique and nice. I also like the way it feels on the face. Tones my skin nice. I have a few different Stirling aftershaves and they are all nice in their own ways. After using my straight and then applying this aftershave I get a good burn but fades away in less than a minute and leaves my face feeling clean and toned, not overdry or oily, perfect!

Great old school fragrance. warm and mellow I think it sets well for fall and winter. wonderful coolness and vey calming on the skin. I find it last all day.

Like others have posted, I found it to be sticky as well. Shaking it vigorously prior to using seems to solve that issue. However, even the stickiness is not enough reason for me to give this splash anything less than 5 stars due to its fantastic fragrance.

I can't quite describe this scent, but if you like Barbershop and Sharp Dressed Man, I think you'll enjoy this fragrance as well.

Ben Franklin is one splash that I won't be without.

Ordered a bottle, recieved it and was met with a nasty , sticky aftershave. Contacted Stirling and they replaced, however replacement was half as bad as first bottle. I strained both bottles thru double paper towels and got 1/2 teaspoon of nasty sticky resin. Done with these folks...........Bill

Within seconds of splashing this on my face, I knew this one was a keeper. No, it does not smell like an old man's pants, but the humorous description got me to pick it. It's spicy, but has an earthy side to it. It's almost like a bay rum without being so sweet. I bought this in a sample, but will be buying a bottle in my next order. This is going to be a regular.
