Feature The Defect

The wooden wicks are a real problem.
If you've ever put green wood in a wood burning stove, or a fireplace,
it crackles and smokes and makes a lot of soot.
That's what these wooden wicks are.
I bought 5 candles. The amount of soot they threw off was directly proportional
to how much the crackled. One of them didn't crackle at all and burned without visible soot.
These crackling wicks are commonly marketed as having a soothing effect from the sound.
Actually, they are just simply not properly dried.

Feature The Defect is a real thing in marketing.
A made up example would be if a brand of automotive tire
always blew out the sidewalls before 100 miles
and the marketing guys claimed "The Tread Never Wears Out".

I burned these candles in the bathroom, where there's no breeze to interfere with the burning.

Two of the 5 candles started making a lot of soot quickly, within minutes.
