Contains Tallow

I am a firm believer in both tallow and lanolin shave soaps. I own many tubs of different shave soaps from Taylors,Mitchell’s,Trumper and especially my newly acquired Stirling Tallow based hard soaps. I first started with their Stirling’s Black Cherry which smells exactly like an almond extract Cherry pie and lathers well!
When I use soap I begin to lather with a pre warmed wet brush and puck of soap that easily starts to form a nice fluffy and hydrated lather using my shave scuttles or bowls. My preference is a warm face wash with Pears Glycerin soap as a defoliator followed by Proraso pre-shave and a hot towel covering my face in order to soften the beard. My shave scuttle uses an immersion heater to keep my lather warm at about 135º throughout the shave. The Duke smell is amazing with no overpowering after smell. I also have one other soap from Stirling named “Barber Shop”. So far these three Stirling soaps are a fine addition to my shaving experiences. I don’t know if I have room for more soaps but so far I am happy with my Stirling purchases.

It's good

Ok so lets be real. Does Stirling even make a "bad" product? It doesn't seem so. Duke is no different from their other soaps. It's great, but for me this one scent wise doesn't really WOW me. Now what I mean by that is it just doesn't have a ton of personality, and jump off the skin. It's a very mellow scent that is very relaxing, clean, and crisp smelling. Which for me, is a good thing. I like to have some scents in my collection that I can put on before bed. I don't always shave in the morning, so when I shave at night I like to use more subtle scents that aren't super distracting if that makes sense. This is perfect for that. I do like it, and it 100% has it's place in my collection of Stirling products. For me this one is a nice & easy scent you can use thats just very unoffensive and safe. Definitely worth checking out.

Duke is Awesome

I really like the scent of this shave soap and as always, slickness and post shave is great as usual with all Stirling shave soap's.

A Great Way To Start A Day

The Duke would be pleased to know that a shave soap had been named after him. A truly Manly-Man fragrance. It's a Stirling shave soap, so lather and slickness go without saying. But let me tell you, Pilgram, when I shave with Duke, I have the urge to saddle up Dollar and go rescue a schoolmarm!

I'm Missing Something

This scent was AWFUL! Smelled like cross between lye soap, Fels Naptha and Borax. Hard to lather and literally stung my skin. All my other fragrances from Stirling are TERRIFIC, but this one really missed the target for me. Maybe I got a bad batch; dunno. I'm a solid Stirling believer and customer - but not for this shaving soap!

Late to the party but I’ve made it!

I’ve been wet shaving for a few years now, have all types of razors and soaps but for some reason I never had a chance to try Stirling even though if you wet shave you know them. Soap and splash are absolutely amazing! Great lather, slick and smells wonderful! If you haven’t yet, your missing out!!

Best smell ever

I bought three scents for my husband. I believe this Duke one is his favorite. He is very happy with all of them though.

So crisp and clean

To paint the best picture I can: vacation, relaxing in the pool,a nice breeze blowing. It has a crist and clean scent and definitely reminds me of relaxing in a pool. A touch of floral, but it's definitely not heavy. Also a touch of cedar, but it's also not heavy. This is a manly scent and relaxing. Definitely love this!

Duke shaving soap

Great scent! Subtle and clean - which is how I prefer it instead of arriving on scene before me. The lather is excellent - very slick and protective and the "slickness" remains between rinsing and re-lathering as with all of the other versions I've tried. I have numerous other brands of soaps and creams in my stash, but STIRLING soaps have replaced them. Pick a scent and enjoy shaving bliss with STIRLING soaps.

The only scent you'll ever need

I used to use the "sharp dressed man" scent and it was great. But ever since switched to this scent my wife will not leave me alone. Gentlemen, if you choose duke, it will yield results and you must be ready to fend off one or multiple women trying to invade your personal space. Beware.

Feel Like a Distinguished Individual

Perhaps it's the placebo effect of the name, but Duke makes one smell as if they are a member of English nobility. A Duke, you may say. Great fresh masculine scent.

Blue In The Air

Blue bird sky’s, almost winter,
I can smell the blue in the air.
It’s College game day, but should I wear a tux?

Definitely part of my rotation

Duke is a wonderful traditionally masculine scent, but not in a musky, in-your-face way. Definitely inspires confidence! The soap itself produces a very well-hydrated lather and has lots of cushion.

Refined, earthy scent

This was my first scented shave soap from Stirling and I got a say, a winner in my book. Pretty fragrant, like a cologne, and it moisturizes the skin perfectly. Highly recommended.

Another winner!!

Rod and Mandy have hit another one out of the park. I've been using their soaps, balms, aftershaves and brushes for years. Incredibly pleased. If I were to take all the tubs I've bought from them, including samples, and other competitor brands, Duke is in my top three. It really is that good. If you like cologne based scents, this is your next purchase. Keep up the good work Stirling.

Excellent performance and lovely scent profile

I have been looking forward to using Stirling shave soap for so long, and when I finally got the chance I ordered a few together.

Duke : This soap has such a pleasantly complex scent profile and I enjoy working with the face lather just to enjoy different notes to come forward.

With Stirling Soap, performance is never an issue and post shave feel is excellent.
I have dry skin and usually inhave to follow a thorough post shave regime, but with this soap, only a simple aftershave balm is sufficient.

I appreciate your team's hard work, and your philosophy of keeping the prices in the reach of common people is commendable.

Floral and spice

Initially I get a lot of floral notes that mellow into spice. I'll use it more in Spring and Summer.

Stirling does it again

Very unique scent. To my nose this smells like a fresh light cologne, with almost a Dr. Pepper note, it smells wonderful! I own about 40 Stirling soaps, and the performance cannot be denied. I've tried ALL the top tier brands, and Stirling easily matches or beats them all... AT HALF THE PRICE!
