Customers praised this shave soap for its "incredible" lather and slickness, with one saying it provides "the best shave in 50 years of wet shaving." The sandalwood scent is described as woody and earthy. Most find it easy to lather, though some noted scent strength varies from mild to distinctive. A few shoppers experienced burning sensations.

Distinctive scent
This is a repeat purchase. Very good shaving soap, lightly fragranced, lathers well. I'm very satisfied.
Incredible smelling and performing soap, make sure you sample any heavily scented soaps before buying a whole tub
In my 50 years of wet shaving I have never found any product that provides a more enjoyable shave than I have with Stirling Shave Soap. I am officially done buying any other brands of shave soap. In fact, I have enjoyed my half dozen shaves so much I ordered one of the limited edition Spring soaps.
I am also enjoying a sample pack of aftershaves, I am enjoying 4 out the 5.
Keep up the amazing work!
Didn't lather well.
This shave soap has great scent and lather. My face not only feels smooth but also clean afterwards. Will purchase again.
Decent sandalwood soap, but the scent is too mild. Shaving performance is great.
Now can really enjoy my shaving.
Bought Barbershop and Sandalwood soaps. Had previously used B-shop and think it’s great. Great scent and lather. Have used sandalwood a couple times since purchasing. Really like it!!!
I bought a sample "plug" and have not gone back to my old shaving soap. Produces a thick lather, leaving my face less irritated. I like the fragrance as well.
What a great scent!! I love the way Sterling soaps lather up. Rod's videos have been really helpful as I returned to de, wet shaving after years of using mach3s. Thanks to a treat team of Rod and Mandy. You are terrific, and your products are great! I am a lifetime customer.
Just got the sample size. It is nice, but I wish it had a little heavier scent. (but that's just me. Love their products!)
Great scent snd great soap, i love Stirling products!
This is one of my first shave soaps and I really like it. I get a good lather easily and it leaves my skin feeling hydrated. My razor glides smoothly across the skin with good slickness.
The scent is really nice. I only wish the scent stuck around a little longer. I have the aftershave splash and it’s nice also.
It’s my first shave soap but I can say that it’s much better than using shaving cream or Cremo. The razor glides nicely and I don’t have any razor burn. I like the scent. Lathers easily. I’m a beginner and have no problems getting a nice lather.
Lathers amazingly, smells like heaven, and just an awesome soap all around. I will be back for more!
Old School, ain’t broke don’t fix it. But I gave this a try and I ain’t looking back. Outstanding product. Keep making it please. Alot of it, just sayin’
Normally a Cella die hard, decided to give this a go and it is outstanding in every way. Originally purchased a full size from a retailer, liked it very much and decided to obtain a couple more direct from Stirling. I’m converted now.
I purchased the Sandalwood scent a while back and at first, while I didn't dislike it, I found myself reaching for other Stirling scents.
Since I originally purchased the Sandalwood, my Soap lathering skills have improved, which has been helped by my recent purchase of a Synthetic Stirling Brush.
I decided to try the Sandalwood soap again to try it out again. Initially, I wasn't planning on Shaving, but just seeing how good of a lather I could work up and then use it as a face wash. I was able to get a quality shave lather and liked the feel of it after applying it to my face and letting it sit for a minute before rinsing my face. I liked it so much that I got my razor out and used it to shave with.
I was able to get a good quality shave from it. Great soap.
I bought this for my hubby. It's a very nice shave soap with a creamy lather. It also smells great. He is enjoying it a lot.
I wanted something with a solid sandalwood scent and this did not disappoint. Have used AOS sandalwood for years. My wife is sensitive to certain smells so I need to be cautious with anything new. She approves. Good lather using a silver tip badger brush and Merkur 34 with Feather blade.
I learned how to shave with a brush and Old Spice shave soap. Had some years after college when I could not find soaps, so I was excited when I found soaps again 15 years ago. Now I think I have found a company where I will find some others. Looking forward to ordering several sample pucks to try some new scents.
When I first opened and sniffed the puck, the sandalwood was right up front, as you would expect. But after a moment I caught a whiff of a cinnamonny undertone, which was intriguing. As soon as I started lathering it, the cinnamon went away, and the sandalwood faded into the woodwork (pun intended) and was replaced by a warm, rich cedar scent, not unlike when you would open your grandma's old antique cedar chest to pull out that big thick quilt she kept tucked away inside. Absolutely delightful, nostalgic aroma that lasted through the entire shave. The lather itself was beyond decadent, super slick, and left my skin feeling soft and moisturized well into the next day. I will definitely be keeping this soap in my arsenal.
As with the other soaps I've tried the sent is not over powering which I like. When traveling the slickness of the soap even in hard water is outstanding. Great products. Just pick one and enjoy a great shave.
I recieved this as a sample puck with the purchase of stirling spice tub. The product as always is top notch. good smoothness, great slick, Great scent, lather etc. However, this scent burned my face by pass 2 and I had to rinse it off and apply my SDM soap to finish. I loved the soap but my face didnt so that is the only reason I rated 3 stars. love your guyses product mandy and rod but I had to pass on this one.
I got a sample of this soap back in June (fathers day) and at first did not like the scent of it but when I tried my first shave it just performed excellent, better than my proraso red (only soap I had) after a few shaves I started enjoying the scent more and more until I found myself taking sniffs at it every time I walked into the bathroom, same with the other scents (executive man and piacenza). I just received a birthday gift last week of two new soaps: Barrister and mann excelsior and Mikes natural soaps and I can tell you that Stirling soaps perform at the same level at this called "high end top notch" soaps (it was a gift so I can't complain). I will definitely buy this soaps again with their after shaves in the future.
P.S. I am a daily coffee addict so very exited for whats coming.
I love sandalwood and I love this soap but the scent is very low key and subtle in comparison to others I have tried. I kind of like that as I don't feel I am a walking perfume counter after using it. This is one of my "go-to" soaps. Lathers great and give a great shave.
As a kid I would always watch my grandfather shave he would use the old brush and sandalwood mug soap, as I grow older and started shaving I never found that old soap that he used but Stirling's sandalwood when I tried it it was a Dead Ringer it smelled just like what pops used to use I love it is my new favorite and I'll be a customer from here on out I love this product I urge everyone to try it.
I don't want my soap & cleaning products to force a scent on me. If I wanted to be strongly scented I can do that separately, and I don't. So I appreciate the mild scent of this.
Scents are like the sliders when editing your photos, like saturation - choose what seems a good level, and then halve it.
It lathers to a rich foam better than other soaps I've used (Taylors cream, and a few soap bars), and appears to be made of real traditional ingredients.
So what's not to like? Nothing that I can think of.
Quality soap as always. I deducted 1 soap as there was no scent. On a 1 to 5 scale the scent for this soap is a .2 compared to most Stirling soaps where the scent is about a 3. I like my shave soaps and balms to have a scent strength of 3. I have a good nose but i had to have a couple friends smell and they couldn't smell anything either.
Stirling Quality, with a beautifully sweet sandalwood scent.
As with the other soaps it lathers great and helps to provide a comfortable clean shave. I love the smell of sandalwood but wish it had a little more umpf to it. Seems to light for the scent.
