Bought this handle with the open and aggressive comb heads. I get a very nice shave with the aggressive head but the open comb is superb. The knurling on the handle is sharp providing a great grip and the overall weight feels perfect. After just a few shaves this easily became my go to razor over ones with significantly higher price tags.
This razor works great for me. High quality. Really enjoy the longer handle.
Excellent
Unbelievable! This offers a far better shave than those plastic multi blade things from Harry's or Dollar Shave! The handle is long and gives great control. Get a real razor like this Stirling safety razor and shave like a man!
I have been wet shaving forover a year now. I wasn't sure if i would be ready for the aggressive head but it is perfect. I love this razor, the weight, the mechanics, its just what i was looking for.
This razor is very comparable to my Merkur razor which became unusable after just two years of use and is 1/3 the price. Great value.
I previously had a straight razor style single blade shaver and often would cut myself. I purchased this one to try a more standard double edge shaving style with the standard razor head, and it is much safer. I have a bit more trouble shaving under my jaw and neck area but very rarely cut myself.
I bought both the standard and aggressive head. Both provide a great shave at a super price.
I got this razor the other day and used it for the first time this morning. Lather Stirling Black, new Astor blade (compliments of Stirling) and one days growth. Three passes and I got a BBS shave. No cuts or irritation. The handle is totally suited for the head. I would compare this razor to my Timeless, Rex or Karve, just for a lot less $. Typical Stirling quality and priceing.
Love this razor. The angle of the blade gives a great close shave and I love the long handle. The knurling on the handle is sharp and provides excelent grip, even when wet.
Just ordered a few soap samples, witch hazel, styptic, and this razor handle. I have a great history with Dorco blades, but they threw in some Astra’s with my order.
Great shave straight away, with a single pass. The handle has excellent weight of its own. I got the open comb as i often go from clean shaven to growing a short beard, but I plan to also try out the aggressive option in the future.
The entire order was shipped quickly and packaged well, and so far I’m very excited to use Stirling’s products!
Works fine. Good feel and weight. Gives a good shave.
I've bought the "Stainless Steel Handle DE Razor (DE3P6S) - Open-Comb" razor 3 years ago and used it almost everyday. Handle is very grippy and has a good weight to it. Open-comb head has a good angle that helped me to prevent the razor burns. And after 3 years of constant use I finally stripped the threads on the head, so I'm back to buy this razor again. For $24 and 3 years of life... worth it.
Very high quality razor for the price. Even better that it is machined in the United States. USA made quality.
Wow! I ordered this razor on a whim just bc I wanted to add to my collection, but not spend a lot of money. So since Stirling has become my favorite company to order my aftershaves, soaps, beard oils , and colognes from I figured I'd try one of the lower prices razors to see how they are.I can honestly say is that I am beyond impressed! This razor performs just as well as my favorite razors that are 3x the price! Such a comfortable shaver that is very easy to find your angle, and the
handle is extremely comfortable, and provide a secure grip , so there is no fear of the razor slipping out of your hand. I used a Perma Sharp blade the first time I used it, and it was a great shave, and the second shave I used a green Astra blade which also worked great with this razor. Overall I highly recommend this razor and it is more than worth the money. Thank You once again Stirling for making such great products and proving time and time again why you are my favorite company, and definitely being one of the best companies on the market for quality, performance, and service !!
Producing very satisfying shaves. I am very pleased with this purchase.
Love this razor, the open comb head shaves butter smooth. Open comb is fairly mild. I have had issues on my chin with other razors causing irritation. I tried this razor on my chin and have had no irritation at all with it.
The handle is heavy, the knurling is sharp, and it is a long handle so the balance feels right. The handle seems high quality and I have yet to see rust in the 5 months I've had it. Honestly the handle justifies the price on its own.
As for the head, I went for the open comb and I love it, I shave with milder razors and this head isn't set at an aggressive angle, it feels forgiving for being open comb, which I always thought would be the most aggressive. Compared to my Merkur 34C this razor shaves slightly closer though I am more careful with it.
The head itself is very thin, reminiscent of early Gillette models, excellent for shaving your mustache right up against your nose. The thin head gives you more control than butterfly door razors I've used such as a Gillette slim.
With how close this thing shaves vs how easy it is to shave with, it performs the best of all my razors. I was truly impressed for the price and I can easily recommend it as it is cheaper than any of my other razors. For 23 dollars this razor is a deal.
The only con I can think of is the head is chrome plated zinc instead of chrome plated brass, brass is about twice as heavy as zinc ore so the head would be heavier were it brass. I'm not sure if the weight would make the shave nicer though, it would probably come down to individual preference.
All in all, this razor is excellent.
My first razor that I bought from another company broke after two weeks. So I got this one and regret not buying it first. It has a good weight to it and the milling on the handle is great and makes it easy to hold.
The razor is really hefty! Feels solid, wonderful weight, awesome length of the handle and pretty close shave with the non-aggressive head. (Might not be the beginner friendliest razor ;)
