First time user, so cant compare, but this alum block works really well with little to no burn. Travel size, but I can tell its going to last a while. Doesnt seem to have any type of scent either 👍. Recommend!

I had never tried an alum block before but took a chance on the small size. If I need another block, I'm still going with the small size as it's perfect for travel and a great fit for my face. This really helps soothe irritation and is a great way to pinpoint specific areas where you need to adjust your shaving technique (via stinging feedback). Big added bonus--this really tightens your skin like nothing else (and dries it out). Its a perfect skin toner. I've bought a couple of the smaller blocks as gifts. Get one!.

It doesn't have as much closing power as a styptic pencil but this thing does a great job and seems like it will last forever. I've been using it for a few months and the block hasn't got any smaller.

I gave this to my son and he likes it and uses it a lot.. I currently have the cylindrical one with a rounded end but I’m going to get a block too because I think it will cover the surface area of my face better than the one I have. I do appreciate the feedback I get from alum reminding me to be more careful especially around my neck area. As usual, stellar customer service and proud to be a loyal Stirling Soap customer.

Perfect for traveling

I wanted a smaller travel size alum block to throw into my dopp kit that I'm building up, which is primarily Stirling products anyway, and I find this to be just right for my need. The price is right, the quality is on par, and the travel case is perfect! I just wish I had bought my 1st block from Stirling.

Using an alum block right after a fresh shave and rinse is so important because it closes up all the small nicks and irritated pores which can cause infection and breakouts. Then I use an aftershave and a balm or lotion to protect my skin and repair any damage.

I'm very happy to have this small yet functional piece to add to my arsenal of shaving equipment! Stirling is THE BEST for price and quality!

Never heard of these until looking into wet shaving and so I picked one up in the store. Wet shavers say these are a must and they work great. The lady at the store said the same. Coming back home I cut my thumb on our car grill adding coolant. We had no band-aids on us and it was bleeding pretty good, then I remembered the Alum block. Poured some water over the block and my thumb and then rubbed the block over it for about a minute. Stung like heck when initially touching the wound, but was painless thereafter. Stopped bleeding immediately. Like a miracle cure. Getting the big block next time.

Love this product - wonderful to add to first-aid kits! Works well to stop bleeding from small cuts, scrapes and bug bites. If you're on blood thinner medication this is excellent to add to your pocket first-aid kit. Works well to stop bleeding and help a normal scab to form over small injuries. Will spread the word about this product!

I've been wet shaving for a few years now and neglected a good post shave routine. This Alum block is the perfect size for my small face and works wonders. I've found that rinsing off with cool water works best. I let the alum stay on my face for about 30 seconds and a quick rinse with cool water and then pat dry lightly with a towel is the way to go for me. Then, I wait another 30 seconds or so and finish up with Stirling Balm, Stirling Aftershave and Stirling EDT.

I've had really sensitive skin (and a job that insists I shave daily) for a while. Not even the "sensitive skin" balms sold in stores have helped. But this, in conjunction with the Witch Hazel & Aloe, has made all the difference. After less than a week of use, I was razor-burn free. I've needed this for years.

The travel-sized block is definitely small, but in the 3 weeks I've used it, I haven't noticed a change in size so I'm sure it'll last quite a while.

This is the first alum block I have ever used. First impression: I did not realize they have such INSTANT power to reduce shaving irritation. I can also tell after my first few times using it that the block is still the same size! Really stoked about how much of an instant solution this product is for an issue I've had my whole life of shaving.
