Just not as strong as Pinaud. Smells "old school" in a good way. May need to overload it a bit if you want it to hang around.

I ordered eight sample aftershaves and had them arm wrestle each other in a bid to prove which one was worthy of my bathroom counter top. The tournament spanned about two weeks. In the end, the Gentleman bested all opponents, but not without Sterling Spice and Haverford giving it a run for its money. My wife and I both seem to prefer the warmer fragrances. Stirling Gentleman is like a Haverford with the floral scent of the tobacco and the sweetness of the vanilla rounded out and enhanced by the earthier amber and musk notes. I'm a fan of the tobacco element (which to me evokes a sense of intelligence, confidence, and good taste), and I really like how Gentleman incorporates it into a blend slightly more complex, but not so much so that the the individual notes are no longer distinguishable. Well done, sir. This is just a really pleasant and enticing aftershave. For reference: the others I ordered were Arkadia, Agar, Ozark Mtn., Bay Rum, and Ramblin' Man. I award Ramblin' Man an honorable mention. We were least thrilled with Agar, but none of them were bad, and it's all personal preference.

Everytime I splash this in I want to go light my pipe or a cigar. The scent is just exsqusite and refined. It’s subtle, it’s long lasting, it’s slightly sweet and has that old timey feel. Had to buy the full size and it is definitely in my top 5 aftershaves. Fantastic!

Versace's The Dreamer - I mean, I don't think Rod could have nailed it better. That same sweet tobacco accord just kind of wafts around like a dreamy cloud. If you like The Dreamer and want it in an AS, look no further. This is it!

This is without a doubt the longest lasting fragrance I've ever owned. I put a little on after a shave at 7 am and I could still smell it well after 10 pm. Arkadia is my favorite scent and I use it most days, but I use this one once or twice a week to keep things interesting.

I have sensitive skin, and usually alcohol aftershaves burn so bad I won't use them. This formula has a very slight burn that is very refreshing and I highly recommend it.

I added this splash as my fourth 5ml bottle in the sample pack I ordered because I didn't see anything else I thought I'd really like, so I picked this one on a whim.

Turns out it is my favorite Stirling scent so far. I just ordered the full sized bottle today, I can't wait for it to get here.

Works well, feels good, scent is imho good, pleasant, warm, friendly, unoffensive, informal, and longevity is excellent (still some skin scent after 3 hours.) I might find other scents I like even more but this one is good enough and longevity cant be beat.

I use this scent all year long as a soap, I landed the after shave finally and I wish I had gotten it earlier. Sooooooo wonderfully warm and perfect for the cold winter months ahead. Someone told me that to them (after applying it to myself) that it almost smelled gingerbread like. Great job Stirling!

Im only reviewing the fragrance. I think it goes without saying the high quality of the AS as to no fragrance consideration, from many reviews.
I smell a pleasant tan suede smell. I dont get tobacco or much spices. I was frankly hoping for a gruffer rougher edgier cigar smell and this fragrance is nothing like that. Its smooth, suave, friendly, unoffensive, pleasant and because i smell the suede I think to me its spokesperson could have been Ronald Reagan. If it was offered by his Presidential Museum in the gift store as his favorite scent, I would have believed it. I get some resemblance to Clubman SR, but this is better. I vaguely from memory think it may be comparable to Knize Ten edc. To me it smells informal, warm, casual, soft.
Not elegant or sophisticated. It also reminds me of Varvatos' Vintage edc but I never bought that after testing it due to poor longevity. Longevity and sillage of this AS i find to be very good, for an AS. So for the price I think is very good deal for a very good, useful fragrance. But Im still looking for an offensive cigar smelling AS personally.

Everyone's palate is different, and what smells great to me may be intolerable for someone else. I get the hint of tobacco and later in the day I get a hint of Hoppes gun oil.

My mistake. I should have just gotten the sample soap first, before buying the bottle of aftershave., it would have saved me some cash. Don't know what it is about this one. I usually enjoy tobacco and menthol, but this one didn't work for me.

Otherwise, it is the usual, fantastic aftershave I expect from Stirling.

Everything about this product is fantastic. I like the amber colored glass bottle it comes in. I enjoyed the quick zing from the alcohol after my shave. The scent reminds me of a stroll through an elegant cigar shop, and it leaves my skin feeling toned and fresh. Thank you Stirling for you commitment to affordable luxury.

One of the best after shaves I have ever used. It has a different, one of a kind lingering smell that is just impossible to beat. A royal splash that is good enough for the Arkansas gentleman.

A deep, musky, tobacco scent. Fantastic Stirling performance with great conditioning, great skin feel, and simply a fantastic fragrance.

I was floored when my wife told me she loved the way I smelled. Wow, that doesn't happen often. Usually she's either overwhelmed by my scent or critical of my "medicinal" aroma. (Honey, do you have sore muscles??") So I totally love the combination of Stirling Gentleman shave soap, after shave and balm and was secretly overjoyed that I'd found this great combo, but when she commented that she loved it....well, a Stirling Gentleman never kisses and tells.

1 of my 2 favorite scents from Stirling, this is tobacco scent perfection and is in my regular rotation which is not an easy accomplishment.

This aftershave is pretty incredible, but as with most splash aftershaves it doesn't last forever. I'm buying the balm next time, the smell is incredible it just doesn't last as long as i'd like. The feel is great, the bottle is great, the burn is a perfect 10/10 - not too much and not too little. The last few times i've used it, i've gotten a very alcohol-on-my-face sense, but it tones down to the gentlemen smell. All in all, it's pretty great.

Very nice aftershave. It's smoother then most drugstore aftershaves; not as much burn as your normal drugstore aftershaves. I use this first followed up with the lotion.

I love this fragrance. I get a touch of vanilla, but it's mostly herbal and tobacco smoke. I wouldn't say cigar but it's very nice. I get a tiny bit of vanilla/tonka; much more Myrtle and Sage, maybe a tiny bit of leather and of course tobacco/smoke. Maybe some Patchouli and sandalwood.

I'm an old school frag kind of guy. I'm not a big fan of sweet or aqua scents. So this scent is right up my ally. I find that it matches very well with Aramis by Aramis, which is one of my favorite fragrances. Aramis doesn't have any vanilla in it but I think it's a really good pairing with Stirling Gentleman. Havana by Aramis is also good with this scent as well.

This is a perfectly-executed tobacco scent. If you ever opened a fresh pouch of Red Man and thought, "that actually smells pretty good," this is what you'll get, only with some vanilla to smooth out the tobacco bite. Unfortunately, on my skin, it's way too sweet. Definitely try this in a sample pack first; I have no doubt it smells great on the right person.

This scent has all of the notes to make it a top tier player. Tobacco, Vanilla, Amber, and Musk. All blended smoothly to make a refined, manly, sophisticated scent. I swear, I would spend my last dollar on this scent is they released it as a cologne. It's not sharp, or spicy. Like I said, smooth. When I wear this with the matching shave soap and balm. I feel smooth, confident, professional, experienced, mature, but fun. Great for a night out, going to an evening gathering, bonfire, high school dances, but also a romantic night with the loved ones.

I own the soap, after shave and balm. Like I said if they made this into a cologne I'd snatch it up the second it was released.
