First of all I’m really glad to pick up such a cool brush. It’s my 3rd boar in the den, but Zenith takes exceptional quality of hairs. This brush has weight to it for sure, but good one. Color of the handle fully matched color of Stirling soap pucks.

As a break in it will take around 10 dry/wet/lather cycles for the brush to stop eating lather. Hairs are very soft and its has back bone. At first I would recommend to tub load or if you like bowl lathering - scoop more.

Since its a dense, big knot be prepped for the dry time to the core around 36-48 hours. Super happy with the purchase! Grab while it lasts!

The quality of this shaving brush is outstanding, the boar hairs are the softest I’ve ever experienced, it can be compared to a best quality badger brush, but at 25% of the price. Used it for two months now, not shed a hair, and getting better if possible for each day. Makes a ton of the finest lather and with its heavy handle and good backbone the shaves are better than with any boar brush out there. I can’t recommend it highly enough! Of all the brushes I have, only my Simpson Chubby 3 in super badger is slightly better, but it cost upwards of 400,- USD! Get one while you can!

As a wetshaver for 30 years, I have tried a variety of shaving brushes. From the cheapest boar brushes, to really expensive badgers.

I have found that a cheap boar brush (from an Italian company) had become my favorite, because of it’s ability to really getting the lather well into the stubble.

But then I recently came across the big, luxurious boar brushes from Stirling Soap Co. These brushes are made of the highest quality materials, and are even larger than the Italian brush.

The Stirling immediately became my new favorite, because it has all the qualities of my old boar brushes, but X 10. A beautiful brush to look at and hold, and it retains lots of water and lather, and it’s surprisingly soft against the skin
Expensive - yes, but worth it’s price

I’ve struggled with brushes. Like so many before me, I initially took the badger route. Reading about brushes and the kind of soaps I eventually settled on after much experimentation (tallow and shea butter are my two must-have ingredients, and lanolin is always a nice addition), I decided to give boar brushes a try. My first was a good ‘ole Semogue 2000 - a perfectly useful brush that nevertheless didn’t have the girth I desired to be able to work with harder tallow soaps. And so I eventually purchased this masterpiece collaboration between Stirling and Zenith. I love everything about it - the color of the heavy resin handle in Stirling Green (the website does not do it justice - it’s the same color of the tubs of soap, gentlemen), the feel of the handle in my hand when loading and face-lathering, and especially the 31mm Zenith knot. It is both sledgehammer and scalpel. I broke it in for five days, soaking it for twelve hour stretches with towel-stropping in between. On days four and five, I swirled it in a tub of good ‘ole Proraso Green (that I keep around for just this purpose) and let the soap sit in the knot while I either made coffee or had dinner before returning it to the water for more soaking (see photo). After all this, quite a few bristles had split and the brush seemed ready. It took about a week or so of daily use to finish the break-in and remove that mysterious “lathercidal” coating that causes the disappearance of the lather in between the second and third passes. Once past this hurdle, the brush has performed like a champ. Between the knot, which mauls soap, and the pro-style resin handle, this boar is the ultimate face-lathering tool and the finest brush I’ve taken to my face - it’s soft like a silvertip and yet has an unyielding backbone. I’ve used it daily and I can’t imagine using another brush (and if I do, it will be a Zenith boar). This brush is an investment in you.

Most of my by brushes are 2 or 3-band badgers. I have to say, once this 31mm Zenith brush broke in, it's right there with my favorites from Shavemac, Oumo, Simpsons and SV. Note that it's not 31x50, but 31x58 (measured with calipers from the top of the bristles to the handle).

I liked it enough to buy a second one.

I like Stirling Brushes and this is the only place you can get one of these 31x50. My friend Leon said I had to have one and he was right. Unfortunately he bought the last one, last year. Tune up your FOMO and get one before they are gone for another year again.

Still breaking it in...it will take a while...this brush is a monster from the handle to the knot. It is also one of the best knots I have used. Lathers and releases very well. This is a solid boar, with a premium knot in Stirling colors...what's not to love.

First Zenith boar…Love the Stirling Green Resin Handle. This brush is beefy, and fantastic. Big backbone and scrub. A Monster among Brushes. 👍

I got both sizes of these brushes and im glad I did, one of the top purchases I've made this year, bristles are just right soft stiff and dense, comfortable handle, looks good with the color scheme, makes a perfect lather in either face or bowl, couldn't be happier worth every penny. Been using for a few weeks, short and easy break in period.

This is my first Boar brush, read the reviews and they are right on target. For me no need to break in as I did not think the bristles were overly stiff. Just soaked in warm water before the shave and that was it. Makes great lather and feels great on the face, at least for me as I like brushes with more back bone.

I’ve had my eye on this previously sold out Shave Brush for what seems like years. When I got the email it was in, the only decision I had to make was whether to get the 28mm or the 31mm. I got the 31mm and am glad I did because not only is it a beautiful brush to look at, it works great too. I’ve used it twice so far and It works excellent right out of the box, no breaking in period required, no animal smell needing to be removed. From what I’ve read it will get better and better each shave i.e. the bristles will get softer, etc, but they feel perfect now so we’ll see. I like to hang my brushes by their handles vs the knot so the bristles don’t rub up against the metal hook and I do have some extra wide stands for that but this bad boy is super wide all over and even though it fits well in a few of my holders at the knot, I went and purchased a special stand on Etsy where any size brush can be placed in it on its side. I also cleaned it in my Zangari-Man Brush cleaner after its second use, not because it needed it but just because I wanted to give it some special treatment as a testament to its beauty. It holds a ton of soap which is great and when rinsing at the end of the shave, it takes some extra rinsing before the water runs clear. Such a great Brush, and it came to me fast as usual with exemplary customer service from Stirling Soap, as usual.

This 31 mm boar made by Zenith for Stirling is everything you want. Just buy it. Dont think and miss out on this amazing brush.

This is an excellent large boar bristle shaving brush. It has a very good backbone and is great for exfoliation. I use it primarily to shave my head and the large brush works perfectly for that purpose. My MO is to soak the brush in hot water for a few minutes and then use it in a large shaving scuttle or bowl to whip up lots of warm lather. Once I have enough lather formed, it is easy to apply it to my scalp - the scuttle keeps the lather warm for a couple of shaves and the brush is large enough to hold enough lather as well.
I like the color of the handle and it is large enough to grip it without slippage. The boar bristles did not have any odor out of the box and in time will become softer and softer with every use. I am very glad to have bought this brush that is made by Zenith and would strongly recommend it to anyone who is looking for a large boar brush

Great brush. Note that the effective loft is about 57mm, not 50.

Great brush. Relatively easy to break in. Great backbone. The split tips feel like a really good 2-band badger...just a touch of scritch.

I was a little hesitant as I prefer smaller brushes. But I have been really enjoying boar brushes for a while now and thought I would give a larger denser boar brush a try. Absolutely love this brush!

In my experience, Zenith makes the best boar hair brushes in the business. Combine that with one of the best shaving soap artisans and you have quite a combo. This brush is substantial and in the beautiful green and gold Stirling motif.
I am looking forward to years of great service.

I’d heard that Boar bristle brushes were stiff and needed to be broke in, but mine was fairly soft right out of the box. If it’s only going to get better I’m very pleased. I love the size of the knot and weight of it in general. It’s a real shaving tool.

I have now used this brush for every shave since my last posting a month ago. I am over-the-moon about this brush. Just love it. Some may know I’m a long haul truck driver and make shaving videos from truck stop shower rooms. This boar brush has been with me since I received it. I hope Stirling won’t allow this brush to remain “sold out” for too long. I think I want another one.

If you've come to the comments to make a decision; YES, you should buy this brush (if it's in stock). A solid, weighty handle mixed with a dense, girthy boar-hair knot is an excellent combo. The green is really striking in person and the gold logos are great. This brush loads soap well and creates a great lather. Very scrubby with plenty of backbone. Will work well as a daily-driver or for those days you just want an extra scrubby pre-shave sensation.

I had high expectation and this brush exceeded them. Beautiful dense knot, beautiful handle, perfect weight. Good backbone without being stiff. Soft bristles. I would buy it again.

I’m normally a high end badger brush user (Simpson, Plisson), but when I saw Stirling’s boar, I had to have one. I’ve largely been disappointed in other boar brushes, but I must say this one is spot on in every regard. The handle is large and weighty in Stirling green. The knot is equally large, unlike other makers, at 31 mm and loft at 50mm. I like the bleached white bristles. Not painted to pretend they’re something else. I’ve now used this brush only one time and it performed well. I’m still a high end badger guy, but this boar takes first place above all my other boar brushes.

I was excited about these. I love boar brushes and Stirling, so I grabbed the 31mm. They come in a gorgeous box (think Simpson but better). The best part that I absolutely love is the heft; the handle is not a light and hollow Omega-esque one. It is solid resin in the unmistakable Stirling Green hue. This brush is worth every penny. You need one, trust me. 👍🏻
